The WPWPCA Picnic Committee has scheduled our 2026 Picnic
date set for Saturday August 8th, 2026. The picnic will be held at
Idlewild Park and Soak Zone, a classic family amusement park and water park
near Ligonier in the beautiful Laurel Highlands of Pennsylvania. The park
opened in 1878 and Idlewild is the oldest operating amusement park in
Pennsylvania and the third oldest in the U.S. behind only a couple of parks
nationally. Here are a few park highlights for a fun family picnic event.
·
- Over 40 attractions, including classic
rides, kiddie areas, and water slides.
- Story Book Forest, a whimsical walk-through
attraction beloved by generations.
-
SoakZone waterpark with slides, pools, and
splash areas.
- Historic rides like the Rollo Coaster, an
early wooden coaster, and family favorites like bumper cars and Ferris
wheel-style rides.
Idlewild Park has been repeatedly recognized as one of
the best children’s parks in the world and a top park for families. Many
commented on what a great time was had last year at the WPWPCA Idlewild picnic.
Please save the date and hope to see you there. More details to follow at wpwpca.org.

hard and submitted final drafts of Stormwater Technical Newsletters soon to be
released published. Please keep an eye open for these informative newsletters.
The PWEA Students and YP Committee are hosting their
annual holiday party in January 2026 — and it’s bigger and better this year.
They are now hosting one event in the western section of the state while still
holding the traditional celebration in the eastern section.
The Plant tour/Luncheon/Business Meeting schedule is
being finalized and will be posted on the WPWPCA website at the end of February.
Five Plant Tours are scheduled for 2026. Please save the
dates for these Plant Tours. They are all third Fridays of the month, April 17th,
May 15th, July 17th, September 18th, and October 16th
where there will be a luncheon and business meeting after each plant tour. Each
meeting wraps up with door prizes and 50/50 raffle. Our Program Committee has
been working to schedule our plant tour locations. We are targeting to have all
published by the end of February 2026.
Together, let us continue to lead with purpose, reach out
to others to expand our membership, and continue making a lasting impact on the
future of water quality in Western Pennsylvania.
With gratitude,
